We the MMI are prophetic, apostolic and missionary priests called by God the Father to go to the whole world to preach the Gospel to the poor. We the MMI missionaries came to Tanzania in 2005 with the invitation of His Eminence Polycarp Cardinal Pengo, the Emeritus Archbishop of Dar es Salaam to run a Rehabilitation Center (Child in the Sun) for street children and children victims of trafficking. This is our first mission in the African continent. Now we are about 15 priests doing our socio-pastoral ministries in Dar es Salaam and Songea Archdioceses. We are engaged in pastoral ministries in three parishes in Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam and one in the Archdiocese of Songea. We are also engaged in Socio-community development programs running a street children home for abandoned street children and children victims of trafficking. Along with our socio pastoral ministry we have formation house to train young seminarians to become MMI Missionary priests in Dar es Salaam. There are 10 candidates from Africa, who are being trained to become priests in our congregation.

  • We took up the rural parishes and have developed them into self-sustainable parishes by instilling faith in the people by administering the Sacraments to the faithful, visiting families, visiting the sick, and arranging catechism, seminar and retreats for the faithful. Inspired by our Founder Rev. Fr. J. E. Arulraj, our priests live a simple life in the missions. Through our witnessing life, the number of church attending faithful has increased immensely.
  • We are also engaged in running formation house in Dar es Salaam recruiting local vocations for our Society. The formation house in Dar es Salaam is engaged in preparing candidates in the beginning stage for two years. The Religious Formation Program of MMI Formation House (MMIFH) (minor seminary two years) in Dar es Salaam provides an environment in which candidates can learn about the MMI way of life and take on the challenges of the program in preparation for the novitiate. The program is developmental and aims to enable candidates to grow and demonstrate their progress through the essential facets of religious missionary formation: spiritual, intellectual human and pastoral. Each facet of the program consists of objectives, rationales, and means of implementation, outcomes, and assessment. The program also includes the means by which formation personnel assess the candidates’ suitability for the future religious, missionary life and service. We have recruited candidates from Tanzania, Malawi, Uganda and Kenya at present. At present we have 10 candidates from Africa
